Back to Stephanie's story
Korean born, Stephanie Chung began her musical training at an early age while in Seoul.
She pursued her love of music by obtaining her Bachelor’s of Music at the Seoul
National University. With her immigration into the United States of America, Stephanie
was able to pursue her studies in the Master's program majoring in piano at the
University of Southern California, Los Angeles. At USC, Stephanie studied with Robert
Ward and the distinguished Dr. Neal Odon from the University of Washington.
Stephanie’s music contributions outside academics are evident in charitable events and
fundraisers. She has organized and performed for a variety of fundraising events and
concerts. She has also collaborated with illustrious artists such as violinist Taras Gabora,
Chin Kim, Michel Ma, Dr. Inhong Cha, and Soprano Youngmi Kim, to name a few.
Moreover, for several years Stephanie was a church choir accompanist and community
choir accompanist.
Since Stephanie’s move to Canada, she has been involved in a variety of projects
promoting music. She was the Asian Director for the Casalmaggiore International Music
Festival in Italy and the Director of the Pacific Rim Conservatory of Music and Arts in
White Rock, British Columbia. Stephanie is currently the conductor for the Zion Women’s
Choir in Vancouver. Furthermore, she recently became a board member for the
Vancouver International Song Institute at the University of British Columbia.
Stephanie’s passion for music has been demonstrated in her professional, academic
and personal life. She strives to share music with all and hopes music will touch the lives
of others as it has touched her.
